Apple to Pay $95 Million for Allegations of Siri Recording Conversations

Apple has agreed to a $95 million settlement over claims that Siri recorded users’ private conversations without permission and shared the data with advertisers. The lawsuit, filed in a California court, alleged that Siri activated without users saying "Hey, Siri," leading to unauthorized recordings for over a decade. Tens of millions of iPhone and Apple device owners from September 2014 to 2023 could claim up to $20 per device, capped at five devices. Apple denies wrongdoing. A hearing is scheduled for February 14 to approve the settlement terms.
