In FY24, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) reported that 81% of ad violations were due to misleading claims. ASCI reviewed 10,093 complaints and investigated 8,299 ads, with 85% of these ads being digital. The healthcare sector was the top violator, followed by illegal betting and personal care. Influencers were major offenders, especially in baby care ads. Celebrities also frequently breached guidelines. To address these issues, ASCI launched a certification course on responsible advertising. This effort aims to enhance ethical standards and compliance in the advertising industry.
