Passenger vehicle sales in India declined for the second month in a row in August, with manufacturers scaling back dispatches to balance dealership inventory.
Approximately 350,000-355,000 vehicles were dispatched, marking a 1.7-3% decrease compared to August 2023. Maruti Suzuki's sales fell by 8.4% to 143,075 units, while Hyundai saw an 8% drop to 49,525 units. Tata Motors reported a 3% decline, selling 44,142 units. However, Toyota, Kia, and MG Motor saw growth, with Toyota’s sales rising 36.5% and Kia’s increasing by 17.2%.
