17 Oct, 2025

Ayush Doseja's cricketing journey is a remarkable example of dedication and hard work. At just 23 years old, he recently made his first-class debut in the prestigious Ranji Trophy for Delhi, where he scored a stunning double century. Inspired by his idol, Virat Kohli, Ayush adopted a strict diet and rigorous training regimen from a young age, which played a significant role in his success.

On Day 2 of the match against Hyderabad, Doseja achieved a milestone by scoring 209 runs off 279 balls, including 25 fours and five sixes. His impressive performance came alongside opener Sanat Sangwan, who also contributed an unbeaten 211 runs, helping Delhi declare at a formidable total of 529 for 4. The duo's familiarity, having played age-group cricket together, proved advantageous in building a solid partnership.

At the end of Day 1, Ayush was on the brink of a century, remaining not out on 97. In an interview after his innings, he expressed his positive mindset, emphasizing that he focused on playing the ball and not on the runs he needed to score. “Everything worked in my favor, so I am happy,” he remarked. He attributed his success to years of preparation and the invaluable support from his family and coaches.

Coach Ajay Choudhary, who has been instrumental in Ayush's development, advised him to approach Day 2 without the pressure of needing just three more runs. “Ayush has worked hard for so many years. I wanted him to get the reward for his hard work,” Choudhary stated, while also cautioning him to remain grounded and continue his diligent training.

Earlier this year, Doseja made headlines in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) with a quickfire 101 runs for West Delhi Lions. Despite his team losing the match, his explosive hitting style caught the attention of many. A setback in the previous DPL season motivated him to improve his T20 and red-ball games, focusing on power-hitting and adapting to different pitch conditions.

Last season, an ankle injury prevented him from debuting in the Ranji Trophy, a moment he had been eagerly anticipating. Reflecting on his journey, Ayush shared how his commitment to fitness, inspired by Kohli, led him to eliminate sugar and carbohydrates from his diet. His inspiring story resonates with many young cricketers in India, proving that with hard work and determination, dreams can come true.
