Bengaluru Cop Arrested in Shocking Kidnap Case
In a shocking incident that unfolded in Bengaluru, a police constable and seven accomplices were arrested for the kidnapping of four managers from a BPO firm. The group, which included Jabiulla, Pavan, Atheeq, Bharath, Prasanna Kumar, Shabaz Ahmed, Tejas Dave, and Chalapathy, executed their plan under the guise of cybercrime officers. This deception took place at Global Connect Telecom Pvt Ltd, an IT and telecom service provider located in the bustling area of Koramangala.
The accused gained access to the BPO's office, claiming they were investigating operations, which allowed them to abduct the four managers. Unbeknownst to the victims, they were being taken against their will until it was too late. The captors then forced the managers to transfer a staggering ₹8.90 lakh into four separate bank accounts, further demanding additional cash as ransom.
Fortunately, the staff at the BPO acted quickly. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, they contacted the emergency helpline at 4.30 am on Saturday. The police swiftly formed four special teams, launching a coordinated rescue operation. Their efforts culminated in the successful rescue of the four managers and the arrest of the kidnappers.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sarah Fathima, emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating that a strict vigil would be maintained within the police department. Home Minister G Parameshwara also announced that disciplinary and legal actions would be taken against any police personnel involved in criminal activities. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for transparency and accountability within the police force.
This is not an isolated event; it marks the second case in just one week where a police constable has been implicated in criminal activity in Karnataka. The state is now faced with the challenge of restoring public trust in law enforcement while ensuring the safety of its citizens.
