Bengaluru-Mysuru: India's Next Semiconductor Hub?

Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant highlighted the potential of Karnataka's Bengaluru-Mysuru region to become India's leading semiconductor hub. Speaking at the India Global Innovation Connect event, Kant emphasized the area's reliable supply of electricity and minerals, making it ideal for semiconductor manufacturing. He noted that 30-35% of India's semiconductor design already occurs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, underscoring the region's capability to serve global markets. Kant also mentioned the government's focus on skilling youth in emerging technologies and creating new jobs beyond the IT sector over the next five years.
