Bhooth Bangla Box Office Hits ₹24 Crore on Day 1
Bhooth Bangla has made a remarkable entry into the Bollywood horror-comedy scene, featuring the ever-popular Akshay Kumar. Released on April 17, the film kicked off with a promising start, grossing ₹24 crore on its opening day. This includes ₹3.50 crore earned during paid previews the previous night and ₹12.25 crore on its official release day.
Despite a slow start with only about 10% occupancy in morning shows, positive reviews helped boost attendance in the evening, raising occupancy to over 30%. This surge in interest has sparked optimism for a strong Saturday, which could lead to even higher domestic collections.
Bhooth Bangla's performance is particularly noteworthy as it has outperformed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which opened with ₹21 crore last year. However, it still falls short of the ₹53 crore earned by Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 on its opening day. The film also trails behind Thamma’s impressive ₹31 crore debut from the previous year.
The horror-comedy genre has gained tremendous popularity in India, especially with hits like Stree and the Bhool Bhulaiyaa sequels. Bhooth Bangla aims to carve its niche in this thriving landscape, and its initial box office collection suggests it could be on the right path.
Directed by Priyadarshan, known for his expertise in comedy films, Bhooth Bangla marks his return to Hindi cinema after a five-year hiatus. This collaboration with Akshay Kumar is particularly special, as it's their first project together in 14 years. The film also features renowned actors like Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar, adding to its star power.
As the film continues its journey at the box office, audiences and critics alike are eager to see if it can maintain its momentum and possibly break more records in the upcoming days.
