Bhopal Police Capture Rape Accused in Daring Encounter
The Bhopal Police recently achieved a remarkable breakthrough by apprehending Salman, a fugitive accused of a heinous crime—the rape of a 6-year-old girl in Goharganj. This case shocked the community and highlighted serious issues surrounding child safety. Salman had evaded capture for some time and even had a bounty of Rs 30,000 on his head, indicating the urgency to bring him to justice.
His arrest took place in Ward 11 of Bhopal, where he was found at a tea stall. However, during his transport to Raisen by the Goharganj police, the vehicle suffered a puncture near Kirat Nagar village. Seizing the opportunity, Salman attempted to escape, which necessitated police intervention. A brief encounter ensued, resulting in Salman sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg, ultimately leading to his re-arrest.
Following the encounter, Salman was taken to JP Hospital in Bhopal for medical treatment. SDOP Sheela Surana, the police officer overseeing the case, elaborated on the operation and reassured the public that the accused would face justice. This incident underscores the importance of prompt police action in such sensitive cases.
The successful operation was a testament to the effective coordination between the Bhopal Gandhinagar police and the Goharganj police force. After the encounter and subsequent arrest, the accused was handed over to the Goharganj police for further legal proceedings, ensuring that the legal process moves swiftly.
The brutal crime took place on November 21, when the young girl was playing outside her home. Salman, luring her with chocolates, took her to a nearby forest and assaulted her. Fortunately, she was found soon after and taken to Obaidullaganj Hospital, where doctors confirmed the assault and referred her to Bhopal AIIMS for specialized care. Thankfully, she has shown signs of recovery and has been discharged from the ICU, although she continues to receive care.
The incident sparked outrage in the community, leading to protests demanding swift justice for the victim. Locals expressed their anger and sorrow, with one woman stating, "We want justice for the victim. We want the accused to be punished." This collective outcry highlights the community's determination to seek justice and support the young victim in her recovery process.
