Big Salary Hike Ahead for Central Government Workers!
The Union Cabinet has approved the 8th Pay Commission, set to revise salaries for central government employees starting January 1, 2026. A key focus is the fitment factor, which determines salary hikes; the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery is advocating for a factor of at least 2.57, similar to the previous commission, leading to a potential salary increase from ₹18,000 to ₹46,260. While some propose a higher factor of 2.86, others suggest a more modest 1.92, which would raise salaries to ₹34,560. Concerns have been raised about outdated calculations that don't account for modern living costs.
