Budget 2024: New Tax Regime Gets Attractive

Budget 2024 has made the new tax regime more appealing by increasing the standard deduction from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, allowing taxpayers with an annual income of Rs 7.75 lakh to pay no tax. Additionally, the adjustment in tax slabs benefits lower and middle-income groups, saving up to Rs 17,500 in taxes. The new regime, now default, covers two-thirds of taxpayers. A significant change is the option to offset TCS against TDS, easing the financial burden for those sending money abroad, like parents supporting children studying overseas.
