Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT, has urged the Indian government to suspend operations of Amazon and Flipkart, claiming their practices harm the local manufacturing sector. This follows a report by the Competition Commission of India (CCI), which found both companies guilty of favoring certain sellers, violating antitrust rules. Khandelwal, also a BJP MP, plans to discuss the issue with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. CAIT, representing over 8 crore shopkeepers, continues to push for stricter ecommerce regulations to protect small retailers from predatory pricing and unfair practices.
