CBSE Class 10, 12 Exam 2026 Overview

24 Mar, 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the Class 10 and 12 examinations for 2026, with an impressive turnout of around 46 lakh students. These exams are crucial for students as they determine their academic future. Held on February 18, 2026, the Home Science exam for Class 10 and the Physical Education exam for Class 12 were conducted across India and in 26 other countries.

Students are reminded to reach their exam centers by 10 am to avoid traffic-related delays, especially with significant national and international events scheduled during this period. Authorities have cautioned about potential congestion and route diversions, urging students to plan their journeys accordingly.

Feedback from educators regarding the exam papers indicates that they were generally well-structured. Teachers have noted that the Class 12 Physical Education paper included a balance of direct syllabus-based questions and those requiring higher-order thinking skills. This approach encourages students to not only memorize but also understand and apply their knowledge effectively.

Manoj Sharma, a Physical Education teacher, shared that the overall nature of the papers was fair, with many straightforward questions allowing students to demonstrate their comprehension. However, some case study questions required deeper analytical thinking, which tested the students' understanding of real-life applications in sports and physical education.

Principal Dr. Alka Kapur stated that the exams were balanced and aligned with the prescribed syllabus, effectively assessing students' knowledge. The well-structured papers allowed students to manage their time and complete the exams comfortably.

In conclusion, the CBSE Class 10 and 12 exams for 2026 have focused on evaluating students' understanding and application skills rather than mere memorization. This shift towards a more holistic assessment reflects the CBSE's commitment to enhancing educational standards and preparing students for future challenges.
