CBSE Re-evaluation Portal Faces Cyberattack
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently launched a re-evaluation portal for students seeking a review of their answer sheets. This much-anticipated platform faced several delays before it went live on June 2, after being postponed from its original May 29 launch date. The portal aims to provide students with an opportunity to contest their marks and ensure fairness in the evaluation process.
Students can access this portal until June 6, midnight, to submit their requests for re-evaluation. To use the platform, students must log in using their roll number, date of birth, and Aadhaar number. Once logged in, they are required to specify details such as the question number, the page number where the answer is located, the marks they received, and the marks they believe they deserve. Additionally, they need to provide reasons for their re-evaluation requests, especially if they feel their answers align with the marking scheme but have been awarded lower marks.
However, the introduction of this portal was marred by a cyberattack from malicious actors, raising serious concerns about the security of the online platform. The CBSE has been working closely with Coempt’s OnMark platform, which manages the re-evaluation process, to address these security issues. This incident highlights the need for robust cybersecurity measures in educational technologies, especially as more institutions move towards digital solutions in India.
As the education sector in India continues to evolve, the CBSE's new portal represents a significant step towards transparency and accountability in examination processes. It not only empowers students to challenge their results but also emphasizes the importance of secure and reliable platforms for educational purposes. Moving forward, it will be crucial for the CBSE and similar organizations to enhance their cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive student data and maintain trust in their systems.
