ChatGPT to Introduce Social Features Soon
OpenAI is on the verge of transforming ChatGPT by introducing social media-like features, including Direct Messages (DMs). Following the success of the Sora app, which focuses on AI video sharing, ChatGPT aims to enhance user interaction through individual and group chats. This development signifies a shift from ChatGPT being merely an AI tool to becoming an interactive platform that fosters collaboration.
Tipster developer Tibor Blaho shared insights on X about this new messaging feature. Internally referred to as "Calpico," it was discovered in the beta version of the Android app. This innovative feature will facilitate one-on-one conversations, akin to popular social media platforms, directly within the ChatGPT interface. It is expected to revolutionize communication and collaboration among users in the OpenAI ecosystem.
In addition to one-on-one chats, ChatGPT is also exploring the option of group conversations, called "Calpico Rooms." This will enable users to collaborate more effectively, using features such as text and image generation. Key functionalities will include the ability to block accounts and manage chat invitations, making the platform even more user-friendly and secure.
If these reports hold true, the introduction of Direct Messages could be a significant milestone for ChatGPT, enhancing its appeal as an all-encompassing app. With the rapid growth of the AI chatbot in recent times, integrating social features like DMs could position ChatGPT as a comprehensive tool for communication and collaboration.
As of now, the DM feature is still under development and is not yet functional. While details surrounding its launch remain sparse, users can expect exciting updates in the near future. The anticipation surrounding the rollout of DMs in ChatGPT hints at a promising evolution, indicating that the AI tool will soon offer a richer, more engaging experience for its users.
