China blocks use of US-made Intel & AMD chips in govt computers: Report

China has issued guidelines to phase out U.S. microprocessors like Intel and AMD from government computers, aiming to promote domestic technology over foreign options. This move aligns with China's efforts to enhance its indigenous technology amid escalating tensions with the U.S.

The U.S. has also taken steps to boost domestic semiconductor production and reduce reliance on China and Taiwan. The Biden administration's 2022 CHIPS and Science Act supports U.S. semiconductor development with subsidies for advanced chip production.
