Cognizant's Controversial Salary Hike and Low Pay for Freshers Spark Debate

Cognizant has raised employee salaries by only 1% to 5%, following a four-month delay, raising concerns among staff. Employees with top performance ratings saw a maximum hike of 5%.

This comes as the company faces criticism for offering entry-level salaries as low as ₹2.5 LPA, a figure unchanged since 2002. Cognizant employs around 254,000 people in India, but recently reduced its global headcount by 8,100. Meanwhile, CEO Ravi Kumar Singisetti earned a staggering ₹186 crore in 2023, highlighting the stark pay disparity within the company.
