Congress Prepares for 2026 Civic Body Elections

31 Oct, 2025

The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee is making significant strides in preparation for the 2026 civic body elections with its newly announced “booth to ballot” campaign. Under the leadership of H S Lucky, the president of the committee, and Manish Tewari, the local Member of Parliament, the party convened an extensive eight-hour meeting with ward coordinators aimed at strengthening its grassroots organization.

During the meeting, the leaders emphasized the critical need for booth-level empowerment, which is integral to the success of any electoral campaign. They plan to establish a five-member booth committee for each booth in Chandigarh, along with a booth-level assistant. This structure is designed to coordinate activities, mobilize voters, and facilitate effective communication between the party and local residents.

Lucky stressed the importance of diligent groundwork and encouraged Congress workers to establish personal connections with voters in their respective areas. He believes that the party's resilience lies in its dedicated grassroots workers and is committed to transforming each booth into a stronghold of Congress ideology and a center of trust for the people.

Tewari, while addressing the coordinators, highlighted the significance of organizational discipline and data-driven planning in the lead-up to the elections. He conveyed that the Congress party is not merely preparing for an election but is gearing up for a movement aimed at restoring dignity, development, and democratic values in Chandigarh. He criticized the BJP for its misgovernance and arrogance, asserting that it is the Congress party that will reintroduce transparent and accountable governance.

The meeting also featured comprehensive discussions on ward-wise voter outreach, the role of social media, door-to-door campaigns, and the identification of pressing local issues. The leaders took feedback from each ward coordinator and delegated specific responsibilities to ensure the timely execution of organizational tasks.

As part of their efforts, the Congress will soon launch the “booth to ballot” campaign, which aims to connect every household with the Congress message and spotlight the shortcomings of the current BJP-led administration in Chandigarh.
