Credit Card Spending Drops in February 2025
In February 2025, credit card spending in India fell by 9% compared to January, totaling ₹1,672 billion. This decline highlights a cautious approach from consumers, as spending generally decreases in February due to tax planning and the end of festive shopping. While year-on-year spending rose by 12%, it was the slowest growth seen in 14 months. The average transaction amount also dipped slightly, showing that people are being more careful with their money. Major banks like HDFC and SBI gained market share, but overall, the credit card market is experiencing a slowdown. Analysts expect a recovery in spending in the coming months.
