Delhi Fog Chaos: 118 Flights Cancelled, Travel Disruptions
Dense fog has caused major disruptions in Delhi, particularly at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, where 118 flights were cancelled and 16 diverted on a single day. Visibility dropped to alarming levels, creating challenges not just for air traffic but also for road users and rail services. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert due to the thick fog, warning residents to stay cautious. In addition to the chaos in Delhi, a cold wave is gripping other parts of India, including Jharkhand and Jammu. In Jharkhand, temperatures fell below 10 degrees Celsius in at least 13 districts, with Gumla recording a chilling 2.4 degrees. Similarly, Jammu is experiencing a severe cold wave with persistent fog that has disrupted daily life.
Travelers across the country are facing challenges as rail services are also affected. Reports indicate that numerous trains have been delayed due to poor visibility caused by fog. Passengers are encouraged to verify train schedules and be patient as weather conditions can change rapidly.
