Delhi Government Raises Minimum Wages to Counter Inflation

The Arvind Kejriwal government has announced a significant increase in minimum monthly wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers in Delhi, effective from October 1. This move, unique to Delhi, aims to provide relief to laborers and employees facing inflationary pressures. The hike also extends to clerical and supervisor class employees, covering various educational backgrounds.

Delhi's Labor Minister, Raaj Kumar Anand, emphasized that these steps are part of ongoing efforts to support the underprivileged and working class in the city. He highlighted that Delhi's minimum wage exceeds that of any other state in India, further noting regular adjustments in dearness allowance to aid workers. The new rates range from ₹17,494 for unskilled laborers to ₹21,215 for skilled workers
