Delhi’s Air Quality Hits Hazardous Levels!

The air quality around India Gate has worsened, reaching an alarming AQI of 249, as Delhi deals with a thick haze that lasted for nearly 11 hours. Visibility at Indira Gandhi International Airport dropped dramatically due to dust-laden winds from Rajasthan. The pollution levels pushed the AQI to 305, classified as ‘very poor’ by evening, up from a much better 135 earlier. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that strong winds had brought in significant dust, affecting visibility and air quality. However, residents can expect some relief from the heat with possible light rains and changing weather conditions between May 16 and May 20, leading up to the monsoon expected by late June.
