Dell Lays Off 12,500 Employees in AI Shift

Dell Technologies has announced a major restructuring, cutting 12,500 jobs, around 10% of its global workforce. The move, detailed in an internal memo, aims to streamline operations and focus on artificial intelligence. The layoffs primarily affect managers and senior managers, some with over 20 years at Dell. The reorganization will centralize sales teams and create an AI-focused unit. Employees express frustration and job insecurity, with the workforce already reduced from 130,000 to 120,000 since February 2023.
