DotPe's Data Breach Sparks Security Concerns Due to Human Error

Gurugram-based fintech startup DotPe, backed by Google, faced public backlash after a security flaw exposed confidential customer data. On September 22, an X user named "Pea Bee" revealed that DotPe's open APIs allowed access to sensitive information, including names, mobile numbers, order IDs, and order histories from restaurants using their services. DotPe quickly intervened to take down the blog post and admitted that the breach resulted from a "human error." The company has since fixed the issue and pledged to enhance security across its entire platform.
