Ex-Google CEO Warns: AI Partners May Deepen Loneliness, Harm Society

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt has raised concerns about the rise of "perfect" AI girlfriends and boyfriends, warning of their potential to worsen loneliness and create social issues. Speaking on Scott Galloway's podcast, Schmidt highlighted the dangers of emotional dependence on AI companions, especially for young people. He pointed out that these AI bots, designed to be visually and emotionally flawless, could lead to obsessive behavior and isolation. Schmidt also noted risks of exposing teenagers to harmful online content through these tools, citing a tragic case where a Florida teen died by suicide after bonding deeply with an AI chatbot.
