Finance Ministry Aims for Pre-filled GST Forms to Simplify Returns

India's finance ministry plans to introduce pre-filled Goods and Services Tax (GST) return forms to address data mismatch issues, reducing unwarranted tax notices.

The initiative aims to enhance business ease and is set to roll out before the next fiscal year. The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs is evaluating technological requirements and potential infrastructure upgrades.

A pilot program will precede full implementation, offering convenience to taxpayers without requiring GST Council approval.
