On August 27, 2024, Indian equity indices ended on a flat note. The Sensex rose by 13.65 points, or 0.02%, closing at 81,711.76, while the Nifty increased by 7.15 points, or 0.03%, to finish at 25,017.75.
Despite overall stability, the media sector outperformed, whereas FMCG and metals saw declines of 0.5-1%. Key gainers on the Nifty included SBI Life Insurance, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finserv, Shriram Finance, and HDFC Life. On the downside, HUL, JSW Steel, Titan Company, Tata Motors, and Grasim Industries lost ground. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices both rose by 0.5%.
