FMCG Sales Rise 4.4% During Festive Season

Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sales, excluding staples, saw a 4.4% increase this Diwali season, reports Bizom. Analyzing data from 2022 and 2023, key drivers of demand included dairy, home care, and confectionery, while beverages lagged with a 4.7% decline.

Pre-Diwali, dairy product sales surged by nearly 38%, and confectionery sales jumped 16.5%. Despite a modest 2% YoY increase in demand five days before Diwali, retail outlets experienced mid-single-digit growth in Diwali stocks.

Home care goods demand rose 12%, and packaged foods saw a 1% increase, while personal care goods sales dipped 9%.
