Former Infosys CFO Highlights Widening Salary Gap in India's IT Sector

Mohandas Pai, former CFO of Infosys and current Chairman of Aarin Capital, has criticized the growing wage disparity in India's IT industry. He notes that while CEO salaries have increased by 50-60% over the past five years, entry-level salaries have seen only a 15% rise over 13 years—from ₹3.25 lakh annually in 2011 to just ₹3.75 lakh in 2024. Pai emphasizes the need for fair compensation, especially for the bottom 60% of employees, and urges companies to align their wage policies with their claims of valuing staff as their greatest assets.
