FSSAI Bans A1, A2 Claims on Milk Products

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has mandated the removal of A1 and A2 milk claims from all packaging of milk and dairy products.

This move addresses concerns about misleading marketing, as the A1 and A2 distinction pertains to a difference in protein structure, which current regulations do not recognize. FSSAIā€™s directive requires food business operators (FBOs) and e-commerce platforms to comply immediately, allowing a six-month period to use up existing labels.
