In a push for safer food standards, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) now requires e-commerce food sellers to ensure a minimum of 45 days before expiry on delivered items.
This measure, driven by increasing consumer complaints, targets improved transparency and consumer protection. In a meeting with over 200 food business operators (FBOs), FSSAI emphasized compliance, urging that online food claims align accurately with labels, while only licensed FBOs are allowed to operate.
