Government Aims to Streamline GST and Indirect Taxes in November

The government is planning a series of meetings in November to review and improve indirect taxation processes, including GST. They will focus on streamlining internal processes, examining the functioning of the GSTN portal, and addressing technical glitches.

This initiative is timely as the upcoming budget is a vote on account due to the upcoming general elections. The review meetings will involve top officials from CBIC, GSTN, and field units.

In October, GST collections reached Rs 1.72 lakh crore, the second-highest ever. These meetings aim to ensure that processes and the GSTN portal are optimized for the new financial year.
