The government has introduced the PM E-Drive scheme, replacing the FAME 2 program, with a budget of ₹10,900 crore over two years.
This initiative offers subsidies for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, trucks, buses, and ambulances, aiming to support nearly 29 lakh EVs. Additionally, ₹2,000 crore will fund over 88,000 EV charging sites. Notably, electric cars are excluded. The government also approved the PM-eBus Sewa scheme, which will roll out 38,000 electric buses by 2029, addressing public transport needs in major cities.
