Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has partnered with SAFHAL Helicopter Engines to develop the Aravalli engine for India's future 13-tonne multi-role helicopter (IMRH) and its deck-based version.
This collaboration, seen as a significant step toward India's self-reliance in aerospace technology, will enable the helicopters to perform various missions, including troop transport, assault operations, and anti-submarine warfare. Production is expected by 2031, with plans to expand into civil markets for offshore operations and VVIP transport. HAL's chief highlighted the importance of this project in boosting India's defense capabilities.
