HCL and Foxconn Launch Semiconductor Facility in India

The Indian government has approved a new semiconductor manufacturing facility to be developed by HCL and Foxconn near Jewar airport. This marks India's sixth unit under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), set to begin production in 2027. With an investment of ₹3,706 crore, the facility will focus on assembling display driver integrated circuits, crucial for electronic devices. It aims to meet 40% of India's domestic demand for these chips, enhancing the country's electronics manufacturing capabilities. This initiative aligns with the government's goal to boost value addition in electronics from 20% to over 35% by 2030.
