ICICI Bank's Rs 625 Cr Donation for Cancer Care
ICICI Bank, the second-largest private sector lender in India, has announced an impressive donation of Rs 625 crore aimed at enhancing cancer care facilities. This contribution will fund the construction of an 11-storey building at the Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) in Navi Mumbai, which is renowned for its dedication to cancer research and treatment.
The new building, part of a larger commitment of Rs 1,800 crore to establish three facilities across the country, will span approximately 3.4 lakh square feet. Equipped with advanced technology, it will feature 12 Linear Accelerators (LINACs), known for delivering precise radiation to cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
According to official statements, the facility is expected to be completed by 2027. Once operational, it will cater to around 7,200 patients annually, providing over two lakh radiation therapy sessions. This facility will not only address the pressing needs of cancer patients but also offer outpatient consultations and diagnostics for approximately 25,000 new patients each year.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the building, named the ‘ICICI Foundation Block for Radiation Oncology,’ took place recently. Key figures from ICICI Bank, including chairman Pradeep Kumar Sinha and executive directors Sandeep Batra and Ajay Gupta, were present at the event alongside TMC director Sudeep Gupta.
