India Achieves Record Foodgrain Production of 329.7 Million Tonnes in 2022-23

India's foodgrain production for 2022-23 has surged to an all-time high of 329.7 million tonnes, marking a substantial increase from the previous year's 315.6 million tonnes. This figure surpasses the average production of the last five years by 308.7 million tonnes. Notable contributions include record rice production of 1357.55 million tonnes and wheat production of 1105.54 million tonnes.


The production of Nutri/Coarse Cereals also saw a significant rise. Pulses production exceeded the five-year average, and oilseeds production reached a record 413.55 million tonnes. Moreover, sugarcane production increased to 4905.33 million tonnes, cotton production to 336.60 lakh bales, and Jute & Mesta to 93.92 lakh bales.
