India Approves New Semiconductor Plant by HCL and Foxconn
The Indian government has given the green light for a new semiconductor manufacturing facility, a collaboration between HCL and Foxconn, located near Jewar airport. This facility, part of the India Semiconductor Mission, will be the sixth of its kind in India, aiming to start production in 2027. It will focus on assembling display driver integrated circuits, crucial components for electronic devices like phones and laptops. The investment is estimated at ₹3,706 crore, and it's expected to fulfill 40% of India's demand for these chips. This initiative is a significant step toward boosting India's electronics manufacturing output and achieving the government's ambitious goals for the sector.
