Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has confirmed that India will allocate satellite communication spectrum administratively, aligning with global practices. This decision follows objections from Starlink CEO Elon Musk, who opposes auctions, arguing they are against international norms. Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio had lobbied for auctions to ensure fair competition for telecom operators, urging the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to reconsider its stance. Sunil Mittal's Bharti Airtel supported Jio’s view, but the government sided with Musk, stating administrative pricing will be set by TRAI for fairness.
