India Plans to build 10,000 km of New Highways!

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) plans to construct 10,000 km of national highways in the financial year 2025-26, a move expected to boost the country's four-lane highway network by 8%. Although this target is lower than previous years, it focuses on enhancing capacity through more lanes. In FY25, 10,400 km is targeted, with 5,853 km already completed by December 2024. The ministry aims to invest Rs 35,000 crore through private partnerships and has identified 13,795 dangerous spots on highways, with plans to address 1,000 in FY26. Additionally, MoRTH will set up automated testing stations and driving training centers to improve road safety.
