India has hit a significant milestone with 200 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity, driven largely by solar energy. As of August 2024, India’s non-fossil power capacity stands at 199.58 GW, including 152.6 GW from renewable sources like solar (89 GW) and wind (47 GW), along with 46.9 GW from large hydro projects.
The country aims to reach 500 GW by 2030, requiring an annual addition of 50 GW. Currently, 89.13 GW is under construction, and 67.46 GW is in development. Renewable energy's share in power generation is projected to rise to 35% by FY30.
