India will allocate satellite spectrum through administrative channels, following global practices, after Starlink CEO Elon Musk opposed Mukesh Ambani's push for an auction.
Musk argued that auctions would be unprecedented for satellite spectrum, aligning with international norms where spectrum is shared. Ambani’s Reliance Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Bharti Airtel advocated for auctions to ensure fair competition with telecom operators. However, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed the government's decision for administrative allocation, assuring that TRAI will determine fair pricing for spectrum access.
