India Rejects Food Shipments from China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Japan, and Turkey – Here’s Why

India has rejected multiple food consignments from China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Japan, and Turkey this year over safety concerns.

The country's food regulator, FSSAI, flagged shipments due to contamination, non-compliance with quality standards, and issues like mold, insects, and low shelf life. For example, China’s Sushi Nori was found with arsenic, while Sri Lankan arecanut had visible mold. Japan’s tea bags were rejected due to unapproved ingredients, and Turkey's apples failed to meet shelf life requirements.
