India Secures Land in Zambia for Copper Exploration
The Indian government has secured 9,000 square kilometers of land in Zambia to explore valuable minerals like copper and cobalt. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Mines, aims to enhance India's critical mineral assets needed for electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy. The exploration is expected to take two to three years, with hopes of obtaining mining rights afterward. India is also looking for similar opportunities in other African countries and has invested in lithium exploration in Argentina and Chile. Back home, efforts are ongoing to explore lithium reserves in Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at boosting India's mineral resource future.
