India’s Exports Surge to $38.49 Billion in April

India's exports reached $38.49 billion in April, marking a 9% increase and the highest in six months. This growth was mainly fueled by a rise in shipments of electronics and engineering goods to the US. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal highlighted the strong performance in exports, particularly in gems and jewellery. However, the country faced a challenge as the goods trade deficit widened to $26.42 billion due to a sharp 19.12% rise in imports, mainly driven by crude oil and fertilizers. Despite these challenges, experts remain optimistic about the engineering sector's outlook.
