Bengaluru, known for its slow-moving traffic, will soon manufacture India's first high-speed bullet train. BEML, in partnership with Medha Servo Drives, will produce two train rakes with an operational speed of 250 kmph at its Bengaluru plant.
These trains, designed to run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail corridor, are expected to be completed by December 2026. The project, initially planned with Japanese technology, shifted to domestic production due to high costs. BEML and Medha aim to meet European standards, targeting future exports to Southeast Asia and Africa.
