India's foreign exchange reserves have reached a record $681.688 billion as of August 23, 2024, marking a significant increase of $7.023 billion from the previous high.
This rise in reserves, which includes $597.552 billion in foreign currency assets and $60.997 billion in gold, provides a robust shield against global economic shocks. The reserves now cover about a year’s worth of imports. In 2024 alone, forex reserves grew by $60 billion. This surge contrasts with a $71 billion decline in 2022, showcasing a strong recovery.
