IndiGo Hires Expert to Investigate Flight Disruptions
IndiGo, India's largest airline, has been facing significant challenges recently due to widespread flight disruptions. On a single day, over 1,600 flights were canceled, which prompted the airline to take immediate action. To address these issues, IndiGo has decided to engage John Illson, an experienced US-based aviation expert, to conduct an independent investigation into the root causes of these disruptions.
The decision comes as IndiGo’s board aims to ensure that such disruptions do not recur in the future. Chairman Vikram Singh Mehta emphasized the importance of involving an external expert to analyze the factors that contributed to the crisis. In addition to IndiGo's own analysis, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has initiated its own investigation. This inquiry panel was formed at the peak of the disruption and is tasked with submitting a report within 15 days. John Illson brings over 40 years of aviation experience to the table. His background includes significant roles within the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
