IndiGo Sues Mahindra Over ‘6E’ Trademark in New Electric Car

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has taken legal action against Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited over the use of ‘6E’ in its upcoming Mahindra BE 6E electric car, set to launch in February 2025. IndiGo, which uses ‘6E’ as a callsign and a key branding element, claims trademark infringement. The Delhi High Court was set to hear the case on Tuesday, but Justice Amit Bansal recused himself, deferring the hearing to December 9. IndiGo registered its ‘6E’ brand under various categories, including advertising and airline services, in 2015. Mahindra’s trademark request for ‘BE 6E,’ approved under motor vehicle classifications, could lead to potential overlap. Both parties are reportedly in talks to resolve the matter.
