The BSE Sensex surged 2,954 points (3.82%) to reclaim the 80,000 mark, boosting the total market value of BSE-listed companies to Rs 4,39,58,912 crore (USD 5.22 trillion). Key gainers included L&T, SBI, Adani Ports, Reliance, and TCS, while sectors like capital goods, energy, and realty posted robust gains. BJP's Maharashtra election win spurred optimism for infrastructure growth, driving market enthusiasm. Small and midcaps also saw significant advances.
