Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea lost over 1 crore mobile subscribers in September 2024, as per TRAI data.
Jio suffered the largest loss with 79.69 lakh users, followed by Vodafone Idea with 15.53 lakh, and Airtel with 14.34 lakh. In contrast, state-owned BSNL added 8.49 lakh users, growing its subscriber base to 9.18 crore. The losses for private telecom operators coincided with their tariff hikes of 10-27% in July. India's total wireless subscribers dropped to 115.37 crore, reflecting a decline of 0.87%.
